Volendrung
Volendrung, the Hammer of Might, is a Warhammer made by the Dwemer tribe Rourken. It is the artifact of Malacath, who creates it from Shagrol’s Hammer at the end of the quest “The Cursed Tribe.” The Hammer swings as fast as a Battleaxe or Greatsword, 0.1 seconds faster than all other Warhammers, and has the ability to absorb 50 points of stamina from each hit.
In order to obtain Volendrung, you must start “The Cursed Tribe” by helping the Orcs at Largashbur defend themselves against a Giant attack. Afterwards, the sorceress Atub will argue with Ugor, saying, “This may be the one we need,” referring to you. You must talk to her. She will ask you to gather a bowl of troll fat and a Daedra heart for a ritual contacting Malacath, who will tell Chief Yamarz that he is weak and must kill the Giant leader with his club as an offering. Yamarz will ask for your help and take you to Fallowstone cave.
There, he will offer to pay you gold to kill the giant for him and let him take credit. If you accept you must kill the giant then he will say that no one can know he did not perform the task himself and will try to kill you. When you kill him, Malacath will congratulate you on killing the giant and Yamarz, who he calls a weakling, and tell you to take Shagrol’s Hammer back to Largashbur and whip the other Orcs into shape. If you do not accept his offer, he will quickly die trying and you will be left to kill the Giant and end up the same as the other route. Once back at Largashbur, you must tell Atub what happened. Malacath will name Gulazob the new chief and command you to place the Hammer onto his shrine, where he will transform it into Volendrung for your taking.
